1966—1967 PREEMPTIONS & SUMMER RETELECASTS

Note: For the first season repeats of The Monkees in summer 1967, several of these segments were cleverly redubbed with new music from The Monkees’ third single (#1004, released on March 8, 1967 [Micky Dolenz's 22nd birthday!]), “A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You”/”The Girl I Knew Somewhere,” their third album, The Monkees’ Headquarters, (#COM/COS-103, released on May 22, 1967) and their fourth single (#1007, released on July 10, 1967), “Pleasant Valley Sunday”/”Words,” which were released during this period, after the first season finished—in order to promote them. The segments and the new songs are included here. (An asterisk [*] denotes that the repeat episode was included as part of the Colex syndication package in 1985, for MTV repeats; 2 asterisks [**] indicates the repeat episode continued to air in local syndication from fall 1975 until the aforementioned time. Until the October 1995 release of the Rhino Monkees Deluxe Limited Edition Box Set [R3 2960], these episodes have never again appeared with their original soundtracks intact.)

Also, Don Kirshner is totally missing from the end credits to these recycled first season repeats, what with his being booted from The Monkees project in February 1967.
